“When the league comes to an end, we are going to be champions”

Scottland FC have set an ambitious tone for the rest of the season, with secretary-general Fortune Bgwoni making a strong early declaration in the title race.

“When the league comes to an end, we are going to be champions,” Bgwoni said, standing firm despite a mixed start to the campaign in which the club collected two points from their opening two matches.

Mabviravira opened their 2026 Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League season with two draws against Hardrock FC and Ngezi Platinum Stars.

The team SG is confident about what the team is doing and where the team is going.  He said those early games had already shaped their trajectory. “The two games that we played have already determined our destination,” he added.

However Scottland registered their first league win of the season, a commanding 3-0 victory over Manica Diamonds at Gibbo Stadium in Triangle on Thursday.

Khama Billiat led the charge with a brilliant brace, opening the scoring in the 25th minute before doubling the lead just five minutes into the second half. His sharp finishing set the tone for a dominant display from Scottland.

Kingston Mureremba added a third goal later in the game to put the result beyond doubt and seal an important win for the defending champions.

The victory also carried added significance as it marked the first league win under new head coach Norman Mapeza, offering early signs of momentum as the team settles under his leadership.

Despite the mixed start to the season, Bgwoni insisted the performance reflects the bigger picture, maintaining belief that Scottland FC remain on track in their pursuit of the title.
