Orlando Pirates have made a strategic move in the current transfer window, securing the services of 25-year-old Zimbabwean international Daniel Msendami from Marumo Gallants.
The Soweto giants are targeting a domestic treble this season, aiming to add the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and Nedbank Cup titles to their already impressive haul of the MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies.
While multiple silverware are on the agenda, the PSL crown remains the club’s primary objective, a title they last lifted over a decade ago.
Msendami joins Pirates after making 13 appearances for Gallants this season, netting once, notably against his new club.
Msendami describes the move as a dream for any African footballer. The winger admits he had to fight for the transfer and is ready to compete for minutes in a squad stacked with talent.
“I had to push to get here. Joining Orlando Pirates for me is like a dream come true because it is one of the biggest teams in Africa,” Msendami told the club’s media.
Msendami’s focus is clear. Make an impact, convert chances, and help the Buccaneers win matches.
“I am very happy to be here. I am looking forward to delivering. To score goals and win matches,” he said.
“Joining Orlando Pirates and knowing it is a big squad, for me is a big motivation. I want to compete and be one of the best in the team.”
More than anything, Msendami is aware of the responsibility that comes with wearing black and white.
“I am very happy to join a club with a lot of supporters. I am looking forward to making them very happy and to making them believe in me, to show that I am giving something to the team,” he added.
Msendami’s arrival at the Rand Stadium adds depth to the squad, providing coach Abdeslam Ouaddou with additional options in the wing as Pirates look to balance attacking creativity with defensive solidity in their push for the PSL.
Msendami’s top-flight career began at Zimbabwean giants Highlanders FC, where he learned the demands of senior football.
He later moved to Botswana powerhouse Jwaneng Galaxy before finding consistency in South Africa with Marumo Gallants.
