Wolves midfielder Marshall Munetsi is set to join Paris FC on a season-long loan, a move designed to give the 29-year-old regular minutes while protecting his market value amid a difficult campaign at Molineux.
The Ligue 1 side will have no option to buy, keeping future flexibility for Wolves, who are bracing for life in the Championship after a disappointing Premier League season.
Manager Rob Edwards has sanctioned the loan after determining that Munetsi no longer fits seamlessly into his tactical setup. With the emergence of Mateus Mane in central midfield, Munetsi’s opportunities were likely to be limited. Allowing the Zimbabwean international to move ensures he remains match sharp, while giving Wolves the chance to optimise his transfer value ahead of a potential summer sale.
Munetsi’s Premier League minutes under Edwards have been sparse, with only one start in a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in November, Edwards’ first game in charge.
This contrasts with the second half of last season under Vitor Pereira, when Munetsi started 12 matches and played a key role in helping Wolves secure a 16th-place finish. Since arriving at Molineux from Reims in February 2025 for £16 million, Munetsi has made 31 appearances and scored four goals, his last coming in October during a 3-2 loss to Burnley.
For Paris FC, currently 15th in Ligue 1, the acquisition adds top-level experience to their midfield ahead of the run-in. The French side will hope Munetsi can replicate his Premier League poise, particularly after a morale-boosting 1-0 Coupe de France win over local rivals Paris Saint-Germain on Monday.
For Wolves, the loan represents a pragmatic decision, balancing squad dynamics, player development, and financial strategy as they navigate relegation.
