Munashe Garananga has set his sights on helping Hibernian push for European football during his loan spell in the Scottish Premiership.
The Zimbabwean defender made a memorable debut in Hibs’ 3–2 win over Dundee United and says he is eager to compete and achieve big things with the club.
“It’s just a thing of wanting to compete, to want to do great things,” Garananga said.
“I had a conversation with the coach and we spoke about wanting to get to Europe in the next season as well and I think it’s an exciting challenge for me to just keep going and get the club’s ambitions up.”
Arriving on loan, Munashe Garananga said his move to Hibernian came at the last minute, but he was ready to seize the opportunity as soon as he got the call.
“It was very quick, it was quick. I got the call in the afternoon, I was actually taking a nap and then I got the news and I was like, yeah, I’m ready to go.”
“It was through my agent and we were getting to the last day and I wasn’t sure what was going to happen and this came about and I was ready to take this opportunity,” he added.
Munashe Garananga has gained valuable experience as a young defender in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League, and is hoping to bring that experience to Hibernian.
“I think it has helped me a lot in my career. I’ve played against very big teams, against very big players and I’m just glad that it gave me a lot of experience as a young defender. The experience part is what I’m grateful for.”
