Dynamos winger Leeroy Mavunga has signaled a clear shift in ambition ahead of the new season, stating that pre-season preparations are on track and the squad is working hard to improve on last year’s performance.
“Pre-season is going well. We are working very hard, and I am promising our supporters a different season from last season.”
He insists the team’s focus is no longer on avoiding relegation but on mounting a serious title challenge.
“This season, we are going to compete. We are not going to fight relegation, but we will fight for the championship.”
Playing for a club of Dynamos’ stature requires a winning mentality, and Mavunga believes the squad is ready to compete at the top of the Premier Soccer League.
“When you are playing for Dynamos, you need to focus on the bigger things, not the small things. We will be there,” he added.
Dynamos endured a difficult and turbulent campaign last season, spending long periods battling near the foot of the Premier Soccer League table. Poor results and inconsistency left the Harare giants focused on survival rather than contention, with safety only secured late in the season.
The struggle marked a sharp contrast to Dynamos’ traditional status as perennial title challengers, making the club’s renewed ambition a significant shift heading into the new campaign.
