Lincoln City continued their impressive run in League One with a thrilling 5-2 victory over Peterborough at Sincil Bank, extending their unbeaten streak to eight matches.
Peterborough began the match on the front foot, showing intent to dictate play from the outset. Their early pressure paid dividends in the 24th minute when Kyrell Lisbie delivered a precise cross to Harvey Leonard, who slotted home to give the visitors a deserved lead. The opener was a wake-up call for Lincoln, who responded with composure and purpose.
Reeco Hackett was instrumental in levelling the game on 33 minutes, finishing neatly from a perfectly timed Tendayi Darikwa pass. Hackett’s movement behind Peterborough’s defensive line caused constant problems, while Darikwa’s vision and decision-making were pivotal in creating the opportunity.
As the first half drew to a close, Lincoln shifted into a higher gear. Freddie Draper capitalized on a defensive lapse from Carl Johnston to put the hosts ahead, and just two minutes later, Darikwa doubled Lincoln’s advantage with a precise strike from the edge of the box.
Despite Lincoln’s dominance, Peterborough briefly offered a spark of hope when Lisbie chested home Brandon Khela’s cross in the 56th minute. However, the visitors’ momentum was short-lived. Less than a minute later, Adam Reach expertly finished Hackett’s low cross to restore the two-goal cushion, emphasizing Lincoln’s ruthlessness in transition and their ability to punish opponents immediately after conceding.
Tendayi Darikwa then capped his performance with a stoppage-time brace. The first came as Lincoln exploited Peterborough’s vulnerability on the break following a corner, and the second was a composed finish to seal the emphatic 5-2 victory.
